Andrew has been in the Norcross community since 2001. First elected in 2008, he has been committed to serving all of the residents of Norcross. Andrew, his wife Yarden, and their daughter Sarah, have lived in Historic downtown since 2015. They enjoy walking to parks, visiting shops, and exploring all of Norcross. Andrew, Yarden, and Sarah are members of Generations Church on North Peachtree.
During his tenure in office Andrew has lead the development of the following parks: Lillian Webb Park, Thrasher Park, Pinnacle Park, Veterans Park, and many others. This all came about through leading the charge on a parks master plan.
The next step in Norcross will be to provide connectivity throughout the city, ensure all parks lead downtown and all paths lead to parks.
Andrew has placed Economic Development at the forefront of his campaign from day one. Balancing the commercial and residential needs required experience and team building. Andrew helped author the downtown dining district, the brewery authorization, and other ordinances aimed at bringing new businesses into downtown Norcross. Based upon the 2001 LCI goals to expand downtown and increase tax base, Andrew authorized the creation of Lillian Webb Park, the Brunswick Community, and is the only sitting councilmember that voted in favor of the relocation of the library. This has lead to millions in private development.
The next step in Norcross' future will be to implement the Buford Highway Master Plan. Maximizing use of parcels while balancing the desire of current residents will be Andrew objective in his next term.
We will also continue to ensure a thriving downtown by adding parking and creating events to draw new visitors to Norcross. Helping expand the downtown and remodel and improve Skin Alley will also be a priority. Our merchants are the heart of the city. Continuing to have an open dialogue with them will be essential!
Andrew is proud to say he is fully funded budget year over year. Replacing cars, upgrading communication equipment and body cameras, and even creating the first Co-responder program that helps our officers reduce crime.
Andrew has also lead the effort to become a safe city for those that walk, stroll, or use any method to travel other than cars. But first applying to become a Walk Friendly City, Andrew has replaced miles of side walks in and around Norcross.
Also worried about pedestrians around automobiles, Andrew lowered speed, introduced legislation to add stop signs and is working on creating an ordinance to allow golf carts.
Norcross is an 1880 railroad town, we own our own roads, power company, and storm water facilities. With age comes wear and tear.
Our power goes offline way too much, We need to invest in underground power lines, and redundancies in place to minimize the impact when power does go out.
Andrew is committed to ensuring our roads are clean and paved, our power company is ready to adapt to electric vehicles and provides reliable energy, and our storm water is handled properly to not destroy local waterways.
